Miles Out West

Described as one of the great road trips in the USA, a nearly 2,000-mile counterclockwise journey through Utah, with detours into Arizona, evoked memories of the cinematic West of my youth. Yet no film or television portrayal could prepare me for the reality. From the sweeping undulations of the desert to the plunging depths of its canyons and the towering majesty of its rock formations, the scenery repeatedly defied belief. A land of such grandeur and wonder could inspire only one thought: America the Beautiful!
